Monitor IBM System X servers with the available SNMP sensors.
Monitoring IBM System X
To monitor IBM System X servers, add one of the following sensors to the corresponding device in PRTG:
- SNMP IBM System X Logical Disk
- SNMP IBM System X Physical Disk
- SNMP IBM System X Physical Memory
- SNMP IBM System X System Health
To use the sensors, follow these steps:
- Install the |IBM Systems Director Platform Agent on the IBM target device.
- Enable and configure SNMP for Windows.
For monitoring your server's hardware health, the IBM Systems Director Platform Agent is sufficient.
This agent can collect sensor data directly from your server. If you want to manage and view data from multiple servers with a central interface, you'll need the additional Management Server component. The Integrated Management Module (IMM) is a separate hardware option that provides even more detailed health information. You can leverage an SNMP sensor specifically designed for the IMM to gather this data. Importantly, the Platform Agent can function independently to monitor your server's health, even without relying on the IMM.
