Troubleshooting HP ProLiant server SNMP monitoring in PRTG: Exploring potential requirements and configuration step
HP ProLiant system health sensors
Update: For Gen10 servers, these sensors no longer require HPE system management tools. Instead, the sensors need the HPE Agentless Management Service installed on the target device. For more information, see this HPE article: HPE Agentless management and AMS.
HP ProLiant system health sensors are now included in PRTG. However, we received this note from a customer:
"I did install the HP Insight Management Agents on my Windows 2008 R2 servers along with HP System Management Homepage. After doing so, PRTG was able to configure sensors for just about everything except the Smart Array controller and its drives. After consulting with HP, they had me to also install the Insight Management WBEM providers agent. Once installed, now PRTG can get SNMP data from the RAID controller.
I don't have the WBEM provider installed on any of my Windows 2003 servers, so, it appears this is a must for Windows 2008, or at least with 2008 R2."
