I am using an IBM System x server and when I try to add any of the IBM-specific sensors, I get one of the following errors:

SensorError Message
SNMP IBM System X Logical DiskThe sensor could not find any disks on the monitored device. The reason might be a Windows security feature that prevents automatic integration of the Windows SNMP agent with the components from IBM. To resolve this issue, see https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/73914. (code: PE188)
SNMP IBM System X Physical DiskThe sensor could not find any disks on the monitored device. The reason might be a Windows security feature that prevents automatic integration of the Windows SNMP agent with the components from IBM. To resolve this issue, see https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/73914. (code: PE188)
SNMP IBM System X Physical MemoryThe sensor could not find any matching data on the target device. To resolve this issue, check if the target device meets the requirements and if the required OIDs are reachable. (code: PE187)
SNMP IBM System X System HealthThe sensor could not find any IBM system health metrics on the monitored device. The reason might be a Windows security feature that prevents automatic integration of the Windows SNMP agent with the components from IBM. To resolve this issue, see https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/73914. (code: PE194)

The IBM Systems Director  platform is installed and configured but I am still unable to deploy any specific sensors. Other SNMP sensors are working.

Finding disks with SNMP IBM System X sensors

If your SNMP IBM System X sensors cannot find any disks, first try using our free SNMP Tester to see if SNMP is enabled on the System x device. You should be able to read the uptime if SNMP is working.

Also, once you have confirmed that SNMP is working, you can use the tester to do a walk on the following OIDs to check if the required data is available:

SensorBase OID
SNMP IBM System X Logical Disk1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.159.3.5
SNMP IBM System X Physical Disk1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.159.3.4
SNMP IBM System X Physical Memory1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.159.1.1.2120.1
SNMP IBM System X System Health1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.159.1.1

The sensors only work if these queries provide a response.

IBM System X sensors on Windows Server 2012 R2

Note: As of October 2023, PRTG no longer supports Windows Server 2012 R2. We recommend you use the most recent version of Windows Server.

According to IBM, a security feature in Windows Server 2012 R2 prevents automatic integration of the Windows SNMP agent with the components from IBM. This leads to the data being unavailable when the agent is polled. The following IBM Systems Director software versions are officially affected:

  • 6.3.7
  • 6.3.6
  • 6.3.5

Also, make sure that you have checked all of the sensor's remarks.
