Having trouble with my Paessler PRTG Enterprise Monitor license. It doesn't update automatically, and trying to refresh it in the Setup | License Information section, got this error:

"License has expired. (Failed to establish secure connection Socket Error #10060 Connection timed out.)"

Automatic license activation in proxied environments after a PRTG core server restart

If you have a Paessler PRTG Enterprise Monitor license and use a proxy server, it might happen that the automatic license update and activation do not work. The reason might be that PRTG cannot access your proxy settings after a PRTG core server restart.

Workaround

First, go to Setup | System Administration | Core & Probes in the PRTG web interface and make sure that the proxy configuration is correct. If this is the case, please use the following workaround:

After a restart of your PRTG core server, go to System | License Information and click Update License to manually update and activate your license.

This way, PRTG can access your proxy settings and the automatic license update works until the next PRTG core server restart.
