Getting this error when trying to add SNMP-Traffic sensor to a switch

The sensor does not get a response from the device you want to monitor. The reason might be that the SNMP credentials are wrong or that the device does not support the required uptime OID (1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0) for traffic sensors. To resolve this issue, check the SNMP access rights of the device or contact the device vendor. (code: PE244)

Please first check that the following are true:

  • The SNMP configuration of the target device (SNMP version, community string or credentials, port) matches configuration of PRTG.
  • The PRTG remote or local probe and the target device are connected over the network.
  • The firewall settings allow SNMP requests from the PRTG remote or local probe .

Then please use our SNMP Tester to check if you can get a response from your device.

  1. Download and start the SNMP Tester on the PRTG remote or local probe server, under which the target device is also configured.
  2. Configure the SNMP Tester to point at your device with the required SNMP settings.
  3. Select request type Read Device Uptime and start the test.
  4. Paste the output of the test run here.
