The activation page is refreshed but this error message continues to appear: Status of license: Not activated Failed to establish secure connection Socket Error # 11001 Host not found.
The most likely cause of this error is an incorrect activation.dat file.
If you already have a new activation code from the Paessler website: Manual license activation, follow the steps below to replace an outdated activation.dat file:
- Open the PRTG Administration Tool.
- Open the Service Start/Stop tab and stop the PRTG core server service.
- In your file explorer, navigate to the PRTG program directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\PRTG Network Monitor.
- Find the current activation.dat file and rename it, for example, activation_old.dat.
- Copy the new activation.dat file to the PRTG Network Monitor folder.
- In the PRTG Administration Tool, restart the PRTG core server service.
If your activation is successful, you can return to the PRTG program directory and delete the activation_old.dat file.
If the error persists, contact the Paessler support team.
