I am looking for method to monitor the links availability using both IP SLA ICMP ECHO or PRTG Ping Sensor.
Can anyone advise what is the clear advantages of each of this mehtod?
With IP SLA, I could set up the configuration between source and destination, with SNMP trap monitored by PRTG IP SLA Sensor,
or alternatively, I configure the PRTG Ping Sensor for the particular link interface IP Address.
Which is a better way?
Hello,
ICMP Ping is sent from the PRTG (Probe's) host machine, whereas the IPSLA Sensor simply gathers the values from an IPSLA measured between at least two Cisco devices. That's the major difference.
best regards.
