I would really benefit from a “best practice” roster of what to monitor.

I’ve been successful experimenting with adding WMI sensors and now need help with best practices for what to monitor and also configuring alerting based on those sensors (and the fact that it will often be a “threshold exceeded” type alert instead of a complete outage type of alert.

I’ve been spoiled in the past with 3rd party tools that present the Exchange environment in a “green-amber-red” reporting / alerting format without having to deal directly with sensors at the PRTG type level.

Hi Ronald,

Why not use PRTG's auto discovery function and simply delete the sensors that you are not interested in. Tresholds are not that easy to predict, where something like 1000 emails/min are extreme for one installation, it can be normal for another. So I think that tuning of the (treshold) alarming will always be something that has to be done manual.
