We have a number of Cisco routers connected on ADSL circuits and monitored on PRTG and would like to be able to determine which ADSL circuits are most heavily used. It would be most helpful if there is a way of measuring bandwidth use against that available rather than against a theoretical maximum available. But the latter would be better than no measurement at all!

Hello,

monitoring bandwidth usage should be possible with the Bandwidth sensors in PRTG (SNMP, Netflow, Packet Sniffing, depending on the capabilities of the Cisco Routers). But monitoring the available bandwidth is difficult, because to do this, you would need to fully use the connection (with a download or similar) and so in essence block the connection for anyone else.

best regards.
