I have installed a remote probe on a laptop. I have an installation of prtg on a local server. The probe and server all work fine. I add a packet sniffer sensor and it also works fine. But when I turn on the port mirror on the cisco 2960 switch the latop and probe seem to fall off the network. The port mirror/monitor is setup correctly. Am i missing a step here in doing a packet sniffer setup? I would love to do netflow but the router i am trying to capture data on is an ISP managed device and they wont turn it on.

when packet sniffing you should use two nics.

one connected to a normal port on the switch for normal network connection and one dedicated for packet snffing, connected to the mirror port.
