We've set 2 sensors of ping on 2 different devices, both sensors have same settings i.e. ping count 1 with scan interval of 3 seconds, priority highest and packet size of 32 bytes, the report generated after 24 hours shows statistics as under
Sensor 1
Good = 28143
Failed = 2866
Total = 31009
Sensor 2
Good = 28166
Failed = 260
Total = 28426
I'm confused if the ping count is similar and scan interval as well, then in the same duration of time why there's lot of variation in total no of pings.
Best Regards

hallo,
for a lot of sensors PRTG is configured to do an immediate retry if a sensor fails.
The ping sensor is one of them.
Your first server looses a lot more pings than your second one and more retry have been made that is why the overall total of the first one is higher than the one from the second one.
We would suggest to use a larger scanning interval but increase the ping count to e.g. 10.
That would give you more detailed information on packet loss, slowest, fastest and average ping time.
