I have created a number of Cisco switch devices where the names that were auto-discovered against the ports have subsequently (during tidy up exercises) been changed upon the switch.
Is it possible to get PRTG to pull in the changed name on a rediscover and replace the original name that was populated into the "Sensor Name" field?

Dear Ian,
I'm afraid PRTG 8 is not able to do this. Changed names on ports will have to be manually "updated" in the sensors in PRTG 8. PRTG 9 will be able to do this, and will 'refresh' the sensor name (if it has not been changed manually before, because we don't want overwrite anything user-configured), once the port has got a new ifalias. PRTG 9 has to rely that the interface numbers don't change as well to be able to identify the ports if such changes are made, and it's best if these changes are made and PRTG is running all the time.
We warmly encourage you to participate in the beta-test for PRTG 9:
