I have my switch and ports displaying data. How can I configure it to see top 5 or 10 network activity to pinpoint high bandwidth hogs?

SNMP is only suited to a limited extend for this kind of analysis. In order to analyse network traffic comprehensively, please use either Flow or Packet Sniffing sensors.

So if my switch lets me forward all packets to a monitor port, then I would have to install another NIC on the server running promiscuous and hooked up to that monitor port correct?
