Dependency "Object Not Found"

Recently we came across a couple devices where the Dependency field says "Object not found". I assume this means that whatever device/sensor this was once dependent on no longer exists. Can you verify that or give me an accurate explanation? Also, when this is the case, does the device still function as it should, only with no dependency?
