Has messenger been removed from notifications?

Was the option to use MSN messenger for notification removed?

I stopped gettings IMs during the day a while back, but only noticed it recently, so I dont know what the timeframe is on this. When I went to see why it wasnt sending out messages, I found that the option to use messenger had been completely removed.

Whats the deal?

As of version 8.3.0 (Feb 16th 2011) native support for all instant messengers has been removed.
