WMI on Vista or Windows 2008 is painfully slow. What can I do?

Vista and Windows 2008 are very slow when it comes to monitoring WMI.

What can I do about it?

Microsoft has published a couple of hotfixes adressing this problem. Read more about it here:

We have at least one report that it successfully enhanced WMI monitoring.
