I know I can monitor bandwidth and that's great, but I want to know where the bandwidth is going. I don't want to monitor users Internet activities (like Joe spent 20 minutes on Facebook), but I do want to know where all the bandwidth is going (for example 20 GB of bandwidth was used for streaming radio, or internet browsing, or VPN, or FTP connections). I don't know if PRTG (or any program for that matter) can do this, but it never hurts to ask.

Hello,
There is no simple answer to this question. The approach depends completely on the setup and topology of your network as well as the software and hardware used. Please have a look at the following article:
How do I differentiate between excessive bandwidth usage with PRTG?
