Hello all,

I have one device (Synology NAS) that I am monitoring over a dedicated IPSec tunnel. Now it usually reports back clean, however no matter how much I try to tweak the interval or anything it'll spit back a down status, and if I click the sensor manually, and click check now, it always returns clean.

My only guess is that cause I have 12 SNMP sensors querying against it that it maybe gets overloaded with the requests and doesn't get a response from all sensors at one time (since half my sensors report a warning, with the system health reporting down). I tried to look to see if there was a way to stagger sensor requests (in that if I have 12 sesnors, and an interval of 15 minutes, I could have each sensor query the device 1 minute apart).

Is this possible, or any other ideas why I'm having this annoying issue?

Hmmm, usually the Synology appliances take SNMP with ease. What sensors do you run against it?

That's okay - how's the ping timing via VPN?

ICMP response time is 20 ms.

VPN is IPSec based same ISP at source and destination.

This problem is driving me crazy...

Could you try to install another trial of PRTG (perhaps on-site) to see if the behavior occurs there as well?

Just another assumption, is RAID scrubbing active on the Synology? They're currently working on a patch. If scrubbing is active, no SNMP queries are being responded to. Maybe that's the issue? You can verify that via the logs:

We have updated the Synology NAS to the latest Firmware and I'll report back if this is still an issue or not.
