I have just installed evaluation copy and it auto-discovered when I did not want it to. How do I turn it off and why dont you put a simple dialogue on the installation asking if your potential customers want it. Or here's a thing why not ask them what subnets they might want to scan. Simply scanning everything and leaving auto scanning running without asking is not useful.
How do I stop auto-discovery

Hello,
Thank you for your KB-post.
I am afraid that at the moment there isn't any default option to choose whether to run initial auto-discovery or not.
As an alternative, there are the following possibilities:
1) You can disable initial auto-discovery for a fresh PRTG installation, by running the installer in command prompt and adding /NoInitialAutoDisco=1 as parameter. This may be useful for performance reasons or if you prefer to manually add devices and sensors to your installation.
2) If auto-discovery is currently running, you can stop it: right-click the group or device, and select Pause | For 5 minutes... from the context menu. PRTG will pause monitoring for 5 minutes and stop auto-discovery tasks.
3) If initial auto-discovery is already performed, you can delete devices that you don't need.
For more information about auto-discovery, please see this manual.
Anyway, thank you for your feedback and suggestion!
Best regards
