Dear,

I would like to know when the Microsoft SQL Server 2017 WMI sensor will be available on the PRTG, because I have updated my database and can not monitor.

Hello caionunes,

Thank you very much for your reply.

We already raised a proposal for a Microsoft SQL Server 2017 WMI sensor, but the decision if and when this sensor will be available in PRTG, is not decided yet. If there is a sensor for SQL Server 2017, we will update our Release Notes accordingly.

Best regards,
Sebastian

Hello,

Is this decided yet? We are in the process of choosing a monitoring solution and the SQL Server 2017 WMI sensor is one of the main requirements.

Kind regards,

No, at this time it is still being discussed within our development team.

Tim,

I've let our devs know about this KB.

Just wanted to bump this as well. We have a few instances of both SQL Server Enterprise and Express that we can't use the WMI monitors for. We've resorted to Perf Mon sensors which works, but it'd be nice to get the WMI sensor.

Dear all,

We are currently working on this. The feature request for this sensor is not on our wish list anymore and was moved to our actual To Do.

Please bear with us.

Best regards,
Sebastian

Just for your information: I upgraded an SQL Server 2016 to 2017. The WMI sensor I created for 2016 still works with the 2017. Only new ones cannot be created at present.

This is an interesting fact, however I wouldn't recommend this procedure as workaround ;)

As stated above, the Windows SQL Server 2017 sensor is currently under development. As soon as it is released, I would recommend to re-create the sensor when running a SQL Server 2017.

Sebastian

Any ETA on this sensor? We're running this version in production already.

Hello Support Accensys,
thank you for your reply.

I'm pleased to confirm that if all goes to plan the WMI Microsoft SQL Server 2017 sensor should be released as part of PRTG 18.x.42, our following "major" stable release. Please bear with us.

Best Regards,
