I just found out that PRTG Monitor does not send escalation messages if the sensor is acknowledged. I understand that most people dont want further messages for acknowledged sensors - but what if I could choose the acknowledged state for the notifications so I can define special notifications on sensors in acknowledged state?

Unfortunately, that is not possible. "Acknowledged" is like the paused state but enables you to further monitor values even when the sensor is in an error state. Additionally, the name of the status itself means that the error is acknowledged and will be checked at the moment, further escalation is not needed.

The best way in your case would be to only acknowledge sensors for a certain time instead of indefinitely.
