Howdy guys, so we have a prtg server that is a little old and creaking under the weight slightly, now and then it goes a tad unresponsive when running large auto discovers. I was wondering if there is a way i can block the web server from offering up a login page temporarily to reduce pressure on it if one of these big jobs is run. However quicker to undo than toggling the webserver as this can take 15m to come back up.

Im open to legit buttons or hacky scripts to edit the login page url if you can tell me which file this is :)

Hi Samuel,

Besides the already mentioned option to revert the webserver to localhost only which requires a service restart, there is no further option in PRTG to block login attempts from within PRTG.

Only other I see would be to block them using firewall rules for example.

Besides that you can also try scheduling auto-discoveries into evening hours when less users are connecting to PRTG.

Kind regards,

Erhard
