Hi,

Here is a scenario : we remotely monitor a site. There is a router, connected to the core switch, and 5 other switches connected to the core switch. A total of 7 devices.

In case of internet connection failure at remote site, we'll get a device down alert for all 7 devices. What we want is to get only the alert for the router, because that's most likely the root cause of the problem - if that device goes down all other devices behind it will appear to be down too.

Is there a way to accomplish this? Can we somehow set PRTG to send alerts only for "the nearest device" from PRTG perspective?

Thanks

Hi,

By setting the dependency of the 7 devices to the router sensor, they will be paused when the router sensor goes down.

This will prevent the 7 devices form alerting you by email. When the router sensor is up again, the monitoring of 7 devices will automatically resume.
