Hello,
is there a best practice advise for the use of PRTG Network Monitor in small businesses? We are using a network with roundabout 20 Servers (Database, Terminal etc.) and want to use PRTG NEtwork Monitor to monitor this Servers. We are unsure on where to install the PRTG Management Console. Should we install it in a separate location or should we use one of the HyperVs inside the existing network. Whats the best practice in such a case.
Thank you for your answers
Christian

Hello Mr. Seifert,
thank you for the quick response. I will install the PRTG Server on a separate physical machine then.
Cheers

Dear Christian
Please allow me to ask you to clarify. Are you talking about the actual console only?
You can use the PRTG web interface to access your PRTG with using a webbrowser (we recommend the latest Chrome or Firefox version.)
If you prefer the Enterprise Console, please install it on that machine on which you are logged in for daily work.
If your real question is where to install the PRTG server, we strongly recommend to use physical hardware and no virtual machine. If there is no other option, PRTG can be run in a virtual environment as well. Though the performance will not be as great, today's virtual machines can be powerful enough for smaller installations.
