Hi,

I try SNMP Paessler SNMP Tester with one of my device (network printer).

I read OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.43.16.5.1.2.1.1 (it's a text message status displayed on network printer's screen - "ready to print" or "initializing" or "printing"). I try to add "SNMP Custom String" with this OID value but PRTG returned "response time" instead of "ready to print", "initializing" oraz "printing". How can I display this values in PRTG?

Thank You for help, Piotr

Hi Piotr,

The SNMP tester should always be used on the PRTG server, so that the same firewall rules apply. What happens if you manually walk 1.3.6.1 wit the SNMP tester?

We also have a generic SNMP Printer sensor in PRTG. Did you test if this sensor suits your needs?

Hello fascik,

PRTG monitors the response time of the OID not the value. You can see the desired value at the statuspage of your sensor. If you like to see the sensor value, try to define lookups like here https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/define_lookups. Anotehr way is the API of PRTG where you can grab the value of the value :).

Thanks for reply, I try SNMP tester on PRTG server. Firewall is turned off.

I try to walki with SNMP Tester - log is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/udbd7gx5j6bvpp5/snmp_walk.txt?dl=0

OID is 1.3.6.1.2.1.43.16.5.1.2.1.1 " Got. do kop. " - it's Polish "ready to copy/print".
