Hi all, I am trying to keep a record of bandwidth usage on our Draytek router to check that we don't exceed the expected limitations of our Business Broadband. I have installed PRTG for Windows on my PC here but I can't seem to make a sensor connection to the router, with SNMP and OID codes. Are you able to advise on how I can create daily bandwidth use logs automatically with this software?

There is no simple answer to this question. The approach depends on the setup and topology of your network as well as the software and hardware used. Please have a look at the following article: https://www.paessler.com/knowledgebase/en/topic/2923

If your router supports SNMP and you entered the correct credentials in the PRTG device configuration, the SNMP traffic sensors should work.

Here's the set up on my router, which has also been restarted:

SNMP Setup Enable SNMP Agent Get Community : private Set Community : public Manager Host IP : my PC IP Trap Community : public Notification Host IP : my PC IP Trap Timeout 10 seconds

The sensor is set to work on the router IP, port 81 (the http port on the router), using the router access login and password. It still fails to connect. Any clues as to what I'm missing here?

You can use the SNMP Tester https://www.paessler.com/tools/snmptester to try to read the uptime, walk an OID or scan the interfaces of that device.

Hi Support, This is now working correctly. Thanks for your advice. My router was just being slow to resolve the SNMP connection. I can now happily monitor broadband traffic and keep a monthly log of usage. Case closed. Cheers, Sam.
