I am sending mail out our company email to gmail for the IMAP sensor.
The sensor works but alternates between up and down.
When it's down it reports this error,
Sending Mail: Socket Error # 10054 Connection reset by peer.
I have also tried IMAP with Outlook (Hotmail) and get the same error.
How do I fix the socket error?

"Connection reset by peer" suggest that something is blocking your request.
This could be firewall on your PRTG server, firewall/switch on your network, mail servers firewall or the mail server itself.
1) Try to increase the scanning interval and timeout values of the IMAP sensor
2) Try if IMAP works from your PRTG server with a email client, i.e. Thunderbird
