Hi,

We're trying to monitor an external website that requires us to go through our proxy server. We've setup and "Advanced Http" sensor and have configured the proxy settings in the appropriate place, but the sensor always responds with:

"HTTP/1.1 407 Proxy Authentication Required ( The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy service is denied. )"

Looking at the proxy logs, it looks like PRTG is not using the username\password provided in the sensor settings - the logs say that it is trying to use "anonymous". Can you provide any information as to why this could be?

Thanks.

Dear Ross,

do you use the sensors HTTP-Proxy-Settings, or the options in the parent device?

Best Regards.

Sorry for the late reply - I have tried setting it at the sensor as well as device level (inheriting settings\not inheriting when it was set at the sensor level). The proxy settings are also setup at the root level. Have tried various methods of entering the username and password (DOMAIN\USERNAME, USERNAME@DOMAIN, USERNAME) and each time ISA still records it as a anonymous attempt.

Does you ISA-Server accept basic-authentication (Basic Auth) or Windows NTML?

ah - no it does not - is the only option to accept it?

Dear Ross,

yes most likely this is the only option.

Hi, I have the same problem only that we do not use ISA Server, but an Astaro firewall. Maybe someone knows also has a solution.
