HTTP XML/REST Value sensor with Smart URL Replacement

I have 50+ devices that I'd like to create HTTP XML/REST Value sensors for and as a result I'd like to create a template. It does not appear that I can use the Smart URL Replacement for this sensor type. Is that correct?

this is correct. The URL replacement does not work for this sensor.
As a workaround you might have a look at the PRTG API especially the Object Manipulation where you can use the call setobjectproperty to set an option through API call.
