I'd like to install a remote probe on a server we are supporting inside a customer's network. Their firewall only allows outgoing HTTPS and HTTP traffic on the standard ports, and will not allow any incoming traffic. Will the remote probe function under these conditions?

Unfortunately information needs to go both ways with the remote probes so this kind of a setup won't work. You can try setting up the remote probe to communicate through port 80 but packets are sent to and from the core server.

Remote Probes use a proprietary protocol over a ssl-secured TCP connection. Many firewalls will not let non-http traffic through on port 80 or 443. You definitely need a transparent TCP connection for PRTG (you can set the port number in the core server admin tool and probe admin tool).
