Hello,
under heavy load the WMI network card sensor fail with error "PC: Could not log in using the specified credentials. Please make sure they are not only valid for the target system, but for the probe system aswell. (Performance Counter error 0xB0000004)"
--> error, ok, ok, error, ok, error, ok, ok ..... and so on.
All other WMI sensor (CPU, memory) with samer 60 seconds interval work fine.
It's a matter of two Windows 2008 server (not R2).
What is better solution a) upgrade to R2 due to better WMI performance b) change (all) sensor to SNMP ?

Hello,
it only happens on the target systems - when they have permanent network traffic (20% of 1 GBits).
(CPU load is low below 10 % all the time). Probe health is fine all the time.

Hello,
We have exactly the same issue. The network load on the monitored system is high at that moment. All other wmi sensors on that monitored system are oke at the same moment.
Best regards,

Are all or most of the "WMI errors" referring to issues with reading "Performance Counters"? If so, please try if any of the tips in our "Performance Counter Troubleshooting Guide" in our KB do help: My Windows sensors do not work when using direct Performance Counter access. What can I do?
Also, please do not hesitate to add any comments to this article, should you find anything helpful for you as well, that's not yet mentioned!

Hello,
the best alternative is SNMP, it's most lightweight on all parties, PRTG, the target and the devices in between. But may I ask, does the this happen when the load is on the PRTG system? Or on the target system(s)?
Updating to Windows 2008 R2 might not help as much, because this error is not a failure in WMI, but reading Performance counters, so there is not this difference to WMI "speed".
best regards.
