I am testing to monitor a workstation with Windows 8.1 which is not in a domain. When I try to use WMI/Performance counters it shows an error: access is denied, credentials incorrect. When I make this workstation a member of a domain and I use a domain account, the sensors work perfectly. Sadly, not all workstations that I need to monitor are member of a domain so I need to get this working without being a domain member.

The credentials which I use for a computer which is not in a domain: Domain or computername: localhost username: administrator Password: (Password for administrator)

This issue only shows when using Windows 8.1. When I use Windows 7 in a similar setup, this works just fine.

Hello,

thank you very much for your KB-Post. Please see if any of the tips in the following KB-Article may help:How can I monitor WMI sensors if the target machine is not part of a domain?.
If not, it may be necessary to install a Remote Probe on such Windows 8.1 machines, or use SNMP to monitor them.

best regards.
