I am planing to install PRTG and use around 1000 sensors. I will use all kind of sensors.
What are the best practices of hardware, software or virtual recommendations for installing PRTG.
Is it best to install on physical or virtual machine?
Is it best to install on Windows server 2008 R2 or Windows server 2012?

thank you very much for your KB-Post. For PRTG installations up to 1000 sensors you can use a virtual machine for PRTG as well. For the performance of PRTG there is no significant difference between Windows 2008 R2 and 2012, you can choose which one may suit you better in terms of maintenance.
