This is most likely already answered but I can't find any documentation online.

I just want to use the API to poll sensor data.. say I have a sensor "router-ping" and I want to know when the router ping fails. How should I request the state of this sensor?

Hi,
a detailed documentation of the PRTG as well as an API query builder can be found on your local PRTG installation. Just go to Setup | PRTG API or add /api.htm to your PRTG server URL. Once there, just switch to tab Live Data.
