I would like to know of it is possible to monitor a number or ESXi 5.1 servers we have installed at a client location. Would this require a specific SNMP configuration or is there a vmware appliance / plug-in available for this?
The same question goes for an HP MSA san. I know this device supports SNMP traps. Can this type of hardware be monitored using PRTG? And if so, how do I go about setting this up.
Kind regards,

Hello,
thank you very much for your KB-Post. Did you try the normal VMware - Sensors already? They usually work out of the box, and do not need SNMP to be setup. Maybe you can install a Remote Probe in a small VM on one of the clients VMware Servers to perform the monitoring there.
PRTG does not yet have inbuilt sensors for the HP MSA San, but you can look into the Trap Receiver Sensor, or check if HP offers any MIB-Files that you can import with our MIB-Importer to monitor the target then with SNMP Library Sensors.
best regards.
