Our current PRTG deployment is around 1500-2000 sensors (depending on what devices are active). The devices are split into two camps:
1) Sensors poll every 10 seconds. 2) Sensors poll every 5 minutes.
There is no crossover between devices.
Is there anyway to tell how big a historical device archive will be given the amount of sensors and poll time? We are trying to plan our hard drive upgrades for this year and I was wondering if there is an easy way to work out the requirement.

Ok so a 10 second sensor will use around 12MB a month of data and a 5 minute sensor 0.4MB. The spreadsheet seems very useful, is there anyway of changing the historic data bit as I think it assumes 60 seconds? Just add a multiplier that does x6 (for 10 seconds) or x0.2 (for 5 minutes)?
Do different sensors use different amounts of data or is the difference so small it's not really worth worrying about?

The difference isn't enough to really worry about and it does assume 60 seconds so you would need to modify the spreadsheet to accommodate for the different intervals.

Many thanks. I've reduced some sensors to 5 minutes and some to 60 seconds leaving the rest at 10 seconds. It's had a big impact on the archive sizes.

With a 60-second scanning interval you can assume about 2mb of data for 1 sensor for 1 month. If you have that sensor on a 5 min scanning interval then you can divide that by 5. You can also use the spreadsheet from this article to help with calculations with PRTG.
