Hi all,

in the past it happened that sometimes a sensor (not PRTG what i am evaluating right now, different products) did not return the expected values or no value at all. Mostly snmp queries, wql things and so on... in those cases it would be helpful to have a sensor logfile to see what really happen.

I found the kB article describing the data and folder structure, and i also found the path <C:\ProgramData\Paessler\PRTG Network Monitor\Logs (System)> containing some logs. The other log folders are empty. I didnt found the trick to enable sensor logging :-) For real debugging purposes reagrding another kB article i have to request a debug version. Is this also true for sensor logging?

Can someone help?

Thx, Eric

Hello,

thank you very much for your KB-Post. I'm afraid not all sensor types offer to write a "Sensor Log". This is only possible on a few selected sensor types (for example the IMAP-Sensor, as one example). You will then find an settings called Sensor Result, with two options:

  • Discard sensor result
  • Write sensor result to disk (Filename: "Result of Sensor [ID].txt")
If this setting is not available, the sensor does not have debug logging. Sorry.

best regards.
