I have PRTG running on my computer to monitor a router, and I want PRTG to send me SMS text message notifications using my cell phone when PRTG is not able to reach the router interface.

I hope you can help me with this problem.

  • PRTG supports sending SMS messages via third party providers that offer an API for sending SMS text messages via HTTP. However, using this method, you need an existing Internet connection for sending out SMS.

    For more information, see manual section Notifications. For a list of pre-configured providers, see PRTG's web interface: In the main menu bar, choose Setup | System Administration | Notification Delivery, section SMS Delivery.
  • For cases in which the Internet is not reachable any more, you can configure notifications using third party software which in turn uses a connected cell phone to send out SMS messages. PRTG does not support this directly, but you can call third party software with the corresponding parameters using a PRTG Custom EXE Notification.
