Hello,

We have trial PRTG setup in a lab environment which consists of 6 or 7 servers (Windows and Linux), a couple managed switch's and a router. We have configured SNMP and sensors accordingly with no issues. However, there is one outstanding problem that we have not been able to resolve.

1.) We have Windows 7 (x64) setup with WMI enabled. No issues here and SNMP is working.

2.) We have a dedicated piece of software that is running on this Windows 7 Client. The software is a management utility which has its own mibs and its SNMP agent.

3.) On this dedicated software we are restricted to a minimum of using port 10161 for SNMP requests.

4.) We have added the mibs to the PRTG server and added the sensors to this device.

Question: How do we configure PRTG to walk these oids on port 10161? Is there any method to do so? Or, is there a workaround to this issue?

Thank You,

Hi,
as PRTG only allows only to provide one SNMP port, I'm afraid you will have to create two separate devices here.
In one device, please set SNMP port to 161 to get monitor the device itself. Then create a duplicate of the device only changing the SNMP port to 10161. With this set up you should be able to monitor the device as well as the software installed on the same. The SNMP port can be changed in the device settings.
Best regards

Hello,

Thank you for the response! This worked successfully.

I created a sub-group and put the Physical Client and the third party software in the same sub group. It looks like everything is working.

Thank You!
