I have tried configuring EventLog sensor notifications a couple ways, but each configuration has some issues.
1. Set a limit on Channel New Records to Error when greater than .00001/s, so the sensor turns red whenever any message is seen. The problem Last Message says, "New Messages is >.01/s" instead of displaying the message from the EventLog. The email sent for the notification also says "New Messages is >.01/s" instead of displaying the message from the EventLog.
2. Set a Speed Trigger for when New Records is above .00001/s. This will generate an email when a new Event if found, but the sensor won't turn red.
Is there anyway to have the sensor turn red in PRTG and see the message from the EventLog in the email and GUI when a critical event if found?
Hello,
thank you very much for your KB-Post. I'm very much afraid though, it's not possible to have the sensor change its state into error (due to an error limit), but keep the normal sensor message. You could only try working with two sensors here, one for the error-limit and the other without for the notification via the Threshold-Trigger. But if the scanning interval is long (5 minutes for example and longer), the sensors might scan to quite different times, which could be confusing then (getting an email, and the other sensor changes to red only a 3 minutes later).
best regards.
