Most of the tools we write handle authentication using credentials of the windows user using the tool. It would be great it our PRTG configuration scripts could behave the same way. However, the API calls require the username and a passhash to be included in the URL.

We have AD authentication setup in PRTG. Is there any possible way to get the passhash for the active windows user (assuming they have an account in PRTG), which out the user needing to enter their password?

hello,

no, sorry there is no other way than requesting the passhash from the user.

How is the passhash generated? Could we replicate that in our scripts?

hello,

the passhash can not be replicated, sorry. we will not publish how we generate it, and I think that is understandable.
