Hi,
I'm curious to know more about the built-in Vmware sensors in PRTG. Specially the Datastore Total ReadLatency & Datastore Total WriteLatency.
What do these sensors actually mean? and how do they compare with the data we see in ESXTOP?
Thanks, David.

Thanks Dieter, any ETA on the new VMware sensors? Is there a beta release?
Regards, David.

Most of the improvements are already done and the updated sensor is already part of our Preview-Channel.
Kind regards

Hi David,
The sensor is retrieving its data from the SOAP-API. The data regarding Datastore latencies can't be compared to ESXTOP directly.
You can see the data in vSphereClient -> Performance-Tab -> Advanced -> Switch to: Datastore.
At the moment PRTG shows a rolled up average for all available datastores for the host or vm. We are currently rewriting the VMWare-Sensors to get more performance as well as new features. One new sensor-type will be a dedicated datastore-sensor that supports more detailed informations about latencies.
Kind regards
Dieter
