We have quite a bit of Adtran devices we monitor. To monitor memory, Adtran has OIDs for Free and Total Memory. In order to see a percentage of free memory, I need to divide these values by each other. The only way I see to perform this is with a Sensor Factory, but these do not get added to a Device Template.

I'd rather not have to add the calculation to 500+ devices. Is there a potential workaround?

Hello,

thank you very much for your KB-Post. I'm very much afraid the Factory Sensors aren't written into Device Templates, because the Channel Definitions would be static then, and always refer to the same original source sensors. Cloning the devices won't really help, sadly. So this indeed would be either a manual task or using the API.

best regards.

Are there any plans to add the ability to create user-defined sensors that can be saved and assigned to device templates? I can understand not assigning the "Factory Sensor" sensor by default, but let me clone the factory sensor and call it something different.

I'm afraid this won't be possible, because of the static IDs that are used in the "Channel Definitions" of Factory Sensors. These can't be made dynamic, and so would always point to the same original source sensors.
