Cannot increase map legend labels beyond 5

but the names in the first line comments of the respective mapobject HTML files do not come through to the live system.

Hi,
please try using the path \webroot\mapobjects instead of "\website\mapobjects" as stated in the article. As from PRTG 13 the wesite root folder has changed with the new web interface.
We will update the source article accordingly.
