I am attempting to monitor snmp traffic across a VLAN Sub-Interface (VLAN ID 240) on a Sonicwall NSA 2400 using snmp traffic sensor with PRTG Network Monitor 9.1.3.1793.

The probe I am attempting to monitor from is also in VLAN 240 and I have conenctivity to the interface. I can add the VLAN Sub-Interface to PRTG with no problems, the interface appears and I can select it as normal. The sensor turns green but no data is ever recorded.

Would anyone be able to help?

Thanks Alan

SonicWALL enable SNMP on VLAN traffic monitoring in one of the latest firmware release:

"SNMP for VLAN Interfaces ? In SonicOS 5.8.1.11 and higher, SNMP MIB-II statistic counters are supported for VLAN interfaces."

Did you ever get any output from the vlan sub-interfaces?

We are still working on getting the VLANs up and running on the Sonicwall and monitoring them. We'll publish what we find as soon as we can. Sorry for the wait.

With the NSA3500 that we have here in the office we created a VLAN and then created an SNMP Traffic Sensor for the VLAN interface and so far the results look fine. We are currently running the Firmware Version: SonicOS Enhanced 5.8.1.12-65o.
