Hi, we just upgraded to 13.2 and enabled unusual detection to see if it would work better for us now than it did when we first installed PRTG. Unfortunately it still seems rather useless.
We have approximately 2500 sensors running and right now more than 100 of them report "unusual." However, almost all of those "unusual" sensors are WMI Service monitors reporting "1 day interval average of xxx msec (Running) is unusually low for this weekday."
I don't even understand what that means. The services have been running non-stop, and these are interval numbers which in the context of something that's either running or not running, simply doesn't make sense.
Can someone explain this to me, and is there some way to shut off unusual detection for services?
Thanks, James
James,
Those service monitors are telling you that the sensor execution time took less or more time than it usually does which is somewhat irrelevant for those senors but it is calculated based on what you set the unusual detection to which can be set in the System and Website settings in the web console.
If you do not want those sensors to have this setting, you can go to the group they are in and turn unusual detection off or have it stop inheriting this setting from whatever group it is under.
