Hi.

I already managed to disable email notification for devices and sensors were it's not necessary for me to get a notification. For example user workstations. It may help to monitor their bandwidth or cpu usage, but there is no need to be informed if they've been shutdown.

So is there a way to configure PRTG to not count those sensors as alerts if they are in error state or simply not accessable? A users workstation can be offline after normal office time - it doesn't make sense from an administrative point of view to count that as an alert :-)

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

To stop all of the sensors for the device reporting an error state you could try to add a Ping Sensor to monitor this device, make the Ping sensor in its Settings to be the Master object for parent (Dependency) and also enable its Auto-Acknowledge-Option. This way if the device is switched off, the ping fails, but will then pause all other sensors on the device and also auto-acknowledge itself.

The other way to do this would be to schedule maintenance mode for the devices between the hours of 5pm-7am so that when the computer is shut down and turned back on the sensors would be paused.

Here is an article describing how to enable maintenance windows and schedules.
