a webaplication generates pdfs - is there a specific sensor to monitor, if the website contains a pdf file and not an error/html site?

sorry, no there is no specific sensor for that. However, it may be possible to use the HTTP Advanced Sensor to check for the error-content in the option "Response muse not contain". That might work.
