Hello,
i already read the chapter regarding snmp-traps in the manual (V12) and the KB entry https://www.paessler.com/knowledgebase/en/topic/143-how-can-i-use-prtgs-trap-receiver-and-what-are-its-limitations. But i'm not sure if understand the whole concept of prtg at handling snmp-traps.
E.g. my cisco systems sending traps of the fan and power supply status to prtg. Is it correct that i have to setup two snmp trap receivers with the relative OIDs? Now if one fan of my 200 switches failed i only get a message of a failed snmp trap receiver and i have to look in the sensor history which one failed?

Is it possible for me to analyse the trap message? E.g. if the trap reply is simply #1, can prtg send me an e-mail with the whole trap message? Certainly this should not happen if the reply is #2.

You can filter based on specific trap codes and parse the message for particular strings. The current Trap Receiver sensor will, however, not include the entire message in a notification. You can, however, write a log entry whenever a trap is received.

I'm afraid PRTG doesn't (yet) support relative OIDs. You would actually have to use the explicit OIDs for the individual trap to be received. If this entails one trap per fan, you would need to add the same number of traps (and the respective, explicit OIDs).
Please notice we are working on a revamped SNMP Trap engine that will allow a more versatile usage of the trap reception, albeit I would be hard pressed to let you know when the same will be available. Please bear with us.
