Hello support,

I hear often complains that our network is slow, especially from users of one of our servers. We observed once a slow network issue, where transferring a big file via FTP took more then 2 hours, but running the same connected on a dedicated NIC of this server took only 15 minutes. Do you see a way to schedule such an FTP task on a regular base by PRTG, and get back the transfer time result. That would give us an effective measurement of such a possible network issue. Thanks in advance and best regards, Arnaud

Hello,

please be aware that monitoring available bandwidth is always tricky. It is possible to do that with HTTP Sensors in PRTG, as explained in the linked article, but for FTP-Transfers, it would be necessary to write a Custom Sensor that does the transfer, and best also measures the time (and passes this then on to PRTG as return value).

best regards.
